Hey guys, it’s been a dang interesting spring so far (and about to be summer). I’ve been bouncing around Montana and the PNW, attending speaking engagements at conventions and also acquiring content for social media and the documentary I’m working on titled “Leaving Montana”.
I had an excellent time speaking at Miscon 37 in Missoula, Montana. There’s hardly a better place to be in the world than western Montana in spring.
In all that, I managed to finish a new novel, a psychological thriller based in Montana. It’s currently on submission with my agent.
I hope you all are having a great warm season. You can find me where the tall, north country forests mingle with hidden waterfalls and lumbering moose.
Hello Michael, I’m a big fan of your work.
I have been interacting with your Facebook page for a while because I admire your work and the way you add depth to your posts by telling a story for that post that touches the very essence of the animal and its environment.
I have recently read your novel “The Puller” and have been deeply impressed by it! (As a retired bookseller I have a relatively big library and it was a great pleasure to add your book to my stock! I am looking forward to your next book!
However, there’s something I need to tell you and that is that someone stole your identity and is posing as you and contacting fans via messenger. I am sure I am not the only one! Unfortunately I fell prey to his scamming! I usually am not naive nor so stupid to fall for these types but this time I was fooled! He provided me with information I double checked and couldn’t find anything faulty! There’s something very personal about you in the information he shared with me and before I go public to expose him, I naturally wanted to contact you because you are just as much a victim as I am, more so, because you are a “public figure”!
I reached out to you via your Facebook page through messenger and received your automated response, which brought me back here to your website. I would very much appreciate if you could find the time to respond to me!
While you were away on your trip to Glacier National Park, he used that to exploit your work for his scam! I checked your website, of course, when that person first contacted me (beginning of October) but not during the last weeks, or I would have found your recent posts of Nov.12th! Too bad for me because, like I said, I fell for his scam!
And now I will do everything to expose him!
Hoping to hear from you!
Best
Sybille Crane
Hi Sybille, I am so sorry that happened to you. People posing as me has become a major issue in the last year, I have received hundreds of emails from followers/readers regarding this issue. Please remember that if there is no blue checkmark next to my name on Facebook or Instagram, it is NOT me. My Facebook page now reaches between 60 million and 90 millions people a year, and it’s not slowing down. This has also caused some issues for me in public, and socially.
Glad you liked The Puller.
